Core Puppy Skills

This class will give you insight into why your dog does the things they do. It will focus on learning life skills that form the building blocks for behavior. These skills will set you and your puppy up for a life of mutual respect and communication. Some topics covered are handling distractions, recall, stationing, relaxing in the presence of other dogs, and establishing comfort with grooming.

For dogs eight weeks to six months old.

Please bring your puppy on a harness with a standard 6 ft leash, plenty of really yummy treats (cheese, chicken, hot dogs, or similar). Prong, slip, choke, vibration, or shock collars not permitted.

Thursdays 6:30-7:15 p.m. Eight weeks: 10/17-12/12 (No Class 11/28)

ATTENTION:

All students must fill out a training survey.

Course Gear:

While specific equipment choices may vary, we recommend having the following for your pup during class:

Regular collar: This will be used for identification purposes.
Front-attachment harness: This can help with teaching loose leash walking and redirecting pulling behavior.
6-foot leash: This is a standard length that allows for both control and freedom for your pup during walks.
Pea-sized soft treats: Small, bite-sized treats are easier for puppies to chew and swallow quickly, keeping them focused on the training session.

Designed for puppies aged 8-24 weeks.
