Cooperative care is an approach to grooming and veterinary care that encourages the dog to be an active partner in the process. In cooperative care training we are constantly monitoring our dog’s comfort level to be sure that he remains an eager and willing partner in the process. Students will learn how to communicate with their dog to not only tolerate handling and husbandry procedures, but to be an active, willing participant in these experiences. In this class we highlight some useful behaviors to teach clients to facilitate cooperative care. Dogs will be behind a barrier during class to promote a relaxed environment.
